Additional Comments:
This is a great credit card for students and those who think they might carry a balance or miss a payment. The interest rate is the key benefit of this card. Depending on your credit rating you could have an interest as low as 4.5% (Prime + 1.5%).
The low interest rate on the TD Emerald Visa makes it perfect for students who are just leaning to use credit and manage their personal finances. There is also a secured version of this card which means you’re pretty much guaranteed to be approved for the regular or the secured version.
The rental car preferred rates are also a nice benefit if you think you might be renting cars from Avis or Budget frequently.
The other benefit that might be handy for students is the available emergency cash advance. While we wouldn’t recommend using a credit card cash advance due to the high interest rates it is a nice feature to have for students.
Best Student Credit Card Canada: Final Thoughts
This credit card is perfect for students or those with a balance. It’s a great way to learn about credit and how to manage personal finances without getting hit with those +20% interest rates that are typical on rewards/travel cards. The low interest rate and small annual fee is why we believe this is the best student credit card Canada.
