The second benefit on this card is that you’ll receive rental car collision insurance. This insurance covers up to the full value of the car if damaged, lost or stolen. The full rental cost needs to be charged to the card to be covered and the rental insurance from the car agency must be declined (this is standard requirements on most credit cards that offer rental car insurance).

Final Thoughts:

This Scotia Gold visa is a decent travel credit card. The positives are that it’s a no fee card and it has some travel benefits like rental car discounts and insurance. The negative is that there are no travel rewards points associated with this card.

Depending on your annual spending it could be worthwhile to get a more expensive travel card like the Scotia Gold Passport visa, pay the annual fee ($110), and then enjoy the extra travel rewards points.

But as a basic no-fee travel credit card the Scotia Gold visa is definitely a good choice for a world traveler.
